Lancaster High School Students Earn Business Office Technology Certifications

earned the Express Employment
Professionals Business Office Technology
Certification this academic year were
recently recognized at the Lancaster ISD
Board Meeting.
Through the intensive certification program, these students have gained essential career skills which promote a successful transition to postsecondary education and the

“I was very excited and proud of the students because it was not an easy test, yet they made it look easy,” LHS Career Preparation Teacher Roshanda Bonner said.
“It means a lot to me to see them receive their certification because they were willing to put in the extra work necessary each day to ensure they were successful in passing the test.”
Students with this certification have received the necessary training and knowledge to successfully work in an office setting, including major areas like the Microsoft® Office Suite applications, preparation and handling of business documents, computer operating systems and internet basics. To earn the certification, each student has
to complete the required coursework and pass a rigorous final exam.
LHS Principal Eleanor Webb said that the campus is fulfilling one of its goals: to have students graduate with More Than a Diploma.
“These students will graduate with work study skills that make them workforce ready,” she said. “It is a tangible accomplishment that goes to enhance self-sustaining success.”
Endorsed by Express Employment Professionals and powered by iCEV, the certification enhances student résumés and helps them stand out to prospective colleges and employers. The certification reflects current industry standards in order to ensure students are career-ready.
“We want to empower the next generation of workers to make knowledgeable decisions about their education and careers,” Bob Funk, CEO and founder of Express Employment Professionals, said. “Earning this certification will have a tangible, immediate impact on students as they plan for what comes after high school, whether that's attending college or joining the workforce.”
The 2018 Lancaster High School Business and Office Technology certification recipients are include: Jessica Rodriguez, Ezra Moreno, Brianna Pearson, Emmanuel Mendiola, Nicole Smith-Davis and Phylisha Smith.
